We heard Alana Levandoski play a couple of times earlier this year when she was touring with Lynn Myles and Dar Williams and so we hijacked her for a day from her UK tour supporting the Elana James Trio.
For the first time we were sold-out a week before the show and with sun doing its best to warm the air we chatted about the possibility of holding the show outside. Maybe we’ll try that one day but this time we decided to play it safe and avoid any interference from lawn-mowers, stray airplanes or sudden downpours.
Her set was made up from a good selection from her CD Unsettled Down, her own newer and as yet unrecorded songs and a couple of covers.
My personal highlights were Red Headed Girl, Moonshine and Unloved Heart as well as the two excellently executed covers; Neil Young’s ‘Helpless’ and Steve Earle’s ‘Goodbye’.
