This show marked a little milestone for us in that it was the first time an artist has come back to play for a second time. So just under a year since she kicked-off this whole house concert thing for us we were delighted to welcome back Christene LeDoux.

Last time Christene had just regained her voice following a three-month illness, but this time her voice was back to full-flow. The last few months has found Christene working on her second CD and recharging her batteries in Austin. She now returns to Europe to pick-up live performance again.

Her currently available CD ‘Little Lighthouse’ was released three years ago, so it’s not surprising that much of her live set features newer and as yet unreleased songs. However there’s always a balance to be struck for an artist between playing the songs that represent where they feel they are artistically, and those songs that the audience are familiar with and so want to hear. Christene managed to strike that balance by playing a couple of songs off the CD in both sets.

As with all Christene’s performances the songs are only half the show. Stories from her life and the incidents that led to songs being written are given as much time as the songs and are are very much her trademark. For example the opening song clocks-in at about 14 minutes as the story spoken over the repeating guitar riff illustrates why it is such an apt title for the song which most of all sums up her personality, or at least her approach to life.
